Terms of Service

Last updated: August 1, 2026

1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading or using Porchlight, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree to them, please don't use the app.

2. What Porchlight is

Porchlight is a devotional app for reading daily Scripture and sending hand-decorated “parcels” — a verse or your own written note — to other people via a shareable link. Porchlight has no backend server and no accounts; the app works from data stored on your own device, and parcels are delivered through your device's own native share sheet. See our Privacy Policy for details.

3. Your content

Anything you write in a parcel, a prayer journal entry, or a custom tag is yours. You choose when and with whom to share it, and Porchlight does not read, moderate, or store a copy of it on any server. Because parcels are sent directly between devices, we have no ability to retrieve, moderate, or remove content after you've sent it — that responsibility rests with you and the platform you used to share the link (e.g. Messages, WhatsApp).

4. Porchlight Premium

Porchlight offers an optional paid subscription ("Premium") that unlocks additional translations, seals, tags, and sending limits. Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, and entitlements are managed through RevenueCat. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period — manage or cancel your subscription through your App Store or Google Play account settings, not within Porchlight itself.

5. Acceptable use

Please don't use Porchlight to:

6. Not professional or pastoral advice

Porchlight is a personal devotional tool, not a substitute for pastoral counsel, mental health support, or professional advice of any kind. If you or someone you know is in crisis, please reach out to a licensed professional or local emergency services.

7. Disclaimer of warranty

Porchlight is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times — including third-party services it depends on, like the ESV API or your device's own share sheet.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Porchlight and its developers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including content sent or received through it.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continuing to use Porchlight after a change means you accept the updated terms. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision.
